Field Trip

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft (KMAC) sponsored me as an artist-in-residence at Lanesville High School in Indiana.  Before beginning the in-class part of our felting workshop, we took a field trip to JoAnn's.

OVNF: Ohio Valley Natural Fibers

This was a busy month of May.
I drove out to Sardinia, OH to pick up the color order for the workshop in Lanesville.
The machinery originated in New England in the 1930s.
Below is the picker and the room into which all of the picked fibers fly.
It enjoyed a nice spotlight on Dirtiest Jobs last year.
A large carder churning out roving to be spun into yarn:
Pretty and old miscellaneous equipment:
The plastic curtains catch some of the fiber that flies off of the carder.
